The 7th Scottish Open DG Championships were held on Mull on 2-3
May. More than 40 players took part and it seemed like everyone had
a great time.
The weather was great and the views from the hillside course
looking out over the sea loch to the Isle of Ulva were superb.
There was some great golf by many players. Sean Young led after the
first round and his brother Liam took over from him after the
second round.
Derek Robins and Sam Neilson made their moves on the Sunday with
course records. After 4 rounds Del led Sam by 4 shots with Liam,
Sean and Oz lying further back. These 5 contested an 8 hole final
and after 3 holes Sam had caught up the 4 shots to tie the lead.
(We felt duty bound to make it exciting for the spectators!!) Sam
couldn't keep up the momentum and I took the championship for the
5th time.
There were great individual performances all the way down the
field, especially from people playing their first ever tournament.
The social side was as good as always and I'm sure we have some
more players now hooked on the sport and on this tournament in
particular.
############
The sport is set to catch on in the north.
~ The Burnlaw course in Northumberland is to have 18 baskets
installed during the summer.
~ Trevor Bechtel has permission in the pipeline from Perth council
to put on a tournament.
~ Trevor is being interviewed about dg on local radio this Friday
~ A holiday chalet operation in Perthshire is looking to install a
course. They have just ordered a whole bunch of discs from me.
~ A post course has been established at a school in Scotland.

If you want golf discs contact me.
If you are an ultimate player considering playing some golf then DO
IT! I still play a bit of ultimate (for Violently Happy) and
there are others (like Sam Neilson) who play a lot so track us down
at tournaments if you want to find out more.
