<flushboth>First item, <underline>Student Regional Team Finals</unde=
rline>.(April 1st-2nd)</flushboth>
<flushboth> Purpose of regional teams is to help raise profile of student
ultimate, so that the sport is taken more seriously by university A.U.s.
The Regional Team T-shirts/kit should be part of this, therefore, in nice
big letters (so everyone can see it when you are wondering around your
university) on the shirt should be some like
=93Midlands/Northern/Scottish/South East/South West Student Regional
Ultimate Team 2000=94.</flushboth>
<flushboth> It would be helpful if each region played in a different colou=
r,
the only region to have decided on a colour is the Midlands, who will
play in Grey, when the other regions pick their colour they should put a
note out on egroups.</flushboth>
<flushboth> Regional Team Finals to take place in Leicester on the 1st and=
2nd of April, starting midday Saturday and finishing early afternoon
Sunday.</flushboth>
<flushboth>Second item, <underline>Election of new student Co-ordina=
tor</underline>.</flushboth>
<flushboth> At the BUF AGM it was decided that students should elect the
student co-ordinator themselves. Therefore, the election for BUF
National Student Co-ordinator will take place at the General Meeting of
student Ultimate to be held on the Saturday night of Student Outdoors
(6th May).</flushboth>
<flushboth>Third item, <underline>Reorganising the regions.</=
flushboth>
<flushboth></underline> The discussion was preceded by presenting the
recommendations of Spicer, as posted on egroups Friday , 26 Nov. 1999,
titled =91regions a new look=92. And this document formed much of the bas=
is
for the discussion. </flushboth>
<flushboth> It was acknowledged that no decision could be made at th=
is
time, and that the general meeting at student outdoors would be the best
time and place at which to make a decision, by vote, on a 1 club 1 =
vote
system.</flushboth>
<flushboth> After not a great deal of discussion it was acknowledged that
the present situation regarding the region of Scotland and the North, 8
hours travelling time between Aberdeen and Bradford and the number of
teams in Scotland, warranted a separate region for Scotland. Creating 5
regions; Scotland, The North, The Midlands, The South West and The
East.</flushboth>
<flushboth> To create the new region of the North it was agreed that
Sheffield and Manchester should be included in the North, Sheffield and
Manchester being far closer to teams such as Leeds than they were to
Warwick.</flushboth>
<flushboth> To compensate for the lose of Sheffield and Manchester, it was=
agreed that Oxford should be included within the Midlands, being closer
to Warwick than either Manchester or Sheffield were. </flushboth>
<flushboth> Furthermore, it was agreed, as suggested in Spicers=92s e-mail=
,
that the Skunks (Southampton) should become part of the South West
Region, as it was pointed out that it only took one and a half hours to ge=
t
from Exeter to Southampton.</flushboth>
<flushboth>This then leaves us with 5 regions looking like this:</flushbot=
h>
<flushboth>Scotland. Falling Skies (Aberdeen) The North. Discip=
les (Bradford)</flushboth>
<flushboth> Far Flung (Glasgow) =
Fingers 6 (Manchester)</flushboth>
<flushboth> Flatball Project (St=92 Andrews) Phat=92=
eds (Sheffield)</flushboth>
<flushboth> Ro-Sham-Bo (Edinburgh) Jedi Chil=
dren (Leeds)</flushboth>
<flushboth> Shooting Stars (Dundee) Northern Lights=
(Durham)</flushboth>
<flushboth> The Source (Strathclyde) =
The Fish (Lancaster)</flushboth>
<flushboth> Dross Magic (Stirling) Yorkie =
Bar Kids (York)</flushboth>
<flushboth> Hulltimate (Hull)</flushboth>
<flushboth> =
New Team (Liverpool)</flushboth>
<flushboth>The Midlands. =
The South West. </flushboth>
<flushboth> Purple Haze (Loughborough) =
Mythago (Bristol)</flushboth>
<flushboth> Superfly (Nottingham) =
No Frills (Cardiff)</flushboth>
<flushboth> G7 (Grantham) =
Sublime Patriots (Portsmouth)</flushboth>
<flushboth> Jesters (Leicester) Sku=
nks (Southampton)</flushboth>
<flushboth> Bears (Warwick) =
Uriel (Exeter) </flushboth>
<flushboth> Mwnci See (Aberystwyth) =
UWE (UWE)</flushboth>
<flushboth> OW! (Oxford) =
FUBAR (Cheltenham)</flushboth>
<flushboth> Birmingham</flushboth>
<flushboth>The South East. Strange Blue (Cambridge)</flushboth>
<flushboth> Jesus College (Cambridge)</flushboth>
<flushboth> Disc Doctors (Imperial)</flushboth>
<flushboth> Falcons (Brunel)</flushboth>
<flushboth> Mohawks (Sussex)</flushboth>
<flushboth> None of the Above (King=92s College)</flushboth>
<flushboth> Toxic Ninja Attack (Canterbury)</flushboth>
<flushboth> Under Cover Lovers (UCL)</flushboth>
<flushboth> Surreal Genocide (Guildford)</flushboth>
<flushboth> It was agreed that the finals should remain as 16 team event,
with 3 qualifying places for each region, and an extra qualifying place
going to the region from which the previous years winner came. This
would not mean an automatic place for the previous years winner, but
rather an extra team qualifying from their region.</flushboth>
<flushboth> Furthermore it was agreed that 'Not the Nationals', was a good=
way to promote the growth of student ultimate and should become a
regular fixture on the student ultimate calender. </flushboth>
<flushboth>Fourth item, <underline>Student Outdoor Finals</underline=
>. (May 6th/7th)</flushboth>
<flushboth> At the time of the meeting there had only been one bid,
subsequently there have been two more.</flushboth>
<flushboth><underline>Other items.</underline></flushboth>
<flushboth><underline>A</underline>., Challis (Bears) asked s=
hould we have a women=92s student
nationals? The general consensus was that there would be enough
teams to make this viable. Any volunteers?</flushboth>
<flushboth><underline>B</underline>., Questions were asked ab=
out whether there was an official set of
student indoor rules, or for that matter an official set of indoor rules, =
and
that it would be very useful if some could be provided by the BUF, or
whatever it becomes, perhaps as part of the deal with subscription.</flush=
both>
<flushboth>And then we all went and made merry late into the night...</flu=
shboth>
<flushboth>There is obviously a lot to be discussed here, amongst those p=
resent
there was broad agreement that this, especially the change to the
regions, was the way forward. A vote will be held at Student Outdoors
(May 6th/7th) to decide, in the mean time discuss.</flushboth>
