THERE WILL BE NO CAPTAIN'S MEETING
due to the fact that some teams would end up sat around for a couple of hours between the captain's meeting and their first game!
We will have some info (the rest of the schedule, and the rules/info below) to give you when you arrive, though... so come and find Chris when you arrive.
In the meantime, read and inwardly digest:
- the tournament info/rules;
- pools info;
- schedule of first games;
Note: Hardwick are having an Open Day on the Saturday, so there'll be numbers of prospective students (and parent!?) wandering around... be nice to them!
Regards
Wayne

National Indoor Ultimate Championships
24th & 25th March 2001
Cheltenham Recreation Centre & Hardwick Campus
Welcome to the 2001 National Indoor Ultimate Championships. I hope you all enjoy your weekend, and that we all get to see and play some good Ultimate. As well as the tournament, we are also trying to raise the awareness of the sport in the area so please offer explanation and assistance to any interested spectators that may be looking bemused.
Scoring
In an attempt to make the tournament progress easier teams will be required to score. The winners of each game will be required to score the game following theirs in that hall. You will need to nominate someone to score immediately after your game.
If you do not score we will assume that you did not win your game and your results will be adjusted accordingly. (Teams last on on Saturday will not be required to score games first thing on Sunday)
Games
We have three pitches , although at some stage we are reduced to only two. Make sure that you are fully aware of the time and location of all your games. You should have 5 pool games – check your schedule.
Hall A is the Recreation Centre main Hall; Hall B is the Hardwick Hall; Hall C is the Recreation Centre Cricket Hall.
All games are 23 minutes long or first to 13 points. The game finishes at the hooter, discs in the air may be caught. Games can be tied.
Knockout games are 23 minutes or first to 13 points. The game finishes at the hooter, discs in the air may be caught. Games cannot be tied; if at time the score is level when the hooter sounds then play continues without a check until there is a winner.
Rules concerning pulls are identical to outdoors, excluding the brick rule. Pulls that lands out of bounds at any stage may be middled either at the front of the end-zone or level with where they left the confines of the pitch. Discs that land in and slide out of the pitch must be played at the point where they left the pitch proper. If a disc slides out of the endzone then the disc may be brought forward in line with where it left the pitch. Discs that land in or caught must be played from where possession is gained. A dropped disc is a turnover. Pulls must be flat and catchable in the endzone.
No time-outs are allowed other than for injury.
Pools
Four pools of six teams, and teams will move between halls. All teams within a pool play at the same time.
Final positions are decided on no. of wins, no. of draws; points difference between tied teams, points for between tied teams, total points difference, total points for. If this does not separate teams then results against the highest placed teams in the pool, in order, will be considered until the teams can be separated.
Knockout
The top two teams from each pool progress to the eight team championship knockout, middle two to the Plate title, and bottom two to the Spoon title.
Each team retains the seeding position for that pool depending on its finishing position, and then the schedule is based on game numbers. E.g. LA33 – is the losers of game 33 in hall A; WC44 – winners of game 44 in hall C.
General
During Saturday Lunchtime there is an open day at C&G College and prospective student and parents will be shown round by senior members of the college. Please ensure that you are courteous and do not present an obstruction.
Both sites are open to the public, so can all players please be considerate to spectators throughout both sites. This means, please do not throw in corridors, and remember that you are on display, as well as the sport.
Consider the security of your property at all times, both in the halls and also in the car parks.
Please ensure that when you cheer you are not disturbing others, or blocking access ways.
Please attempt to place rubbish in bins so that staff are not constantly cleaning up behind you.
There should be game discs available per pitch, please do not remove these.
Accommodation is available at Northlands Youth Arts Centre. Limited bed space is available at £5, or else floor space is available at £1 per player. See Chris or Wayne for accommodation arrangements.
Yet again we shall be invading the ‘Fish and Fiddle’ (Check maps for location). There is no dress code and a minor charge after 10:00pm for entrance.
Both site will have ice, and limited first aid for players. Ask members of staff for assistance.
If you have any questions or are aware of any problems please tell us rather than moaning about it afterwards.
